Board Member

Rya Fennewald is the Community Librarian of Community Health and Wellness at Deschutes Public Library, where she creates programs that connect people, promote wellness, and inspire lifelong learning. With over 15 years in libraries, she enjoys building relationships, mentoring colleagues, and collaborating with community organizations to make meaningful experiences accessible to all. Rya holds a Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara. Outside of work, she cherishes time with her young daughter and husband, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and caring for her three spirited bird dogs.

“I serve on the Council on Aging because I’m passionate about supporting older adults in our community. I enjoy helping create programs and opportunities for older adults that foster connection, learning, and wellbeing, and bringing my experience in community engagement to strengthen these efforts.”
