St. Charles Medicare Advantage Announcement

On October 5th, St. Charles finalized negotiations with Medicare Advantage health plans. When Medicare open enrollment begins October 15th, local seniors will have options should they want to remain in-network for St. Charles Health System. In addition to traditional Medicare, St. Charles will start the year accepting the following Medicare Advantage plans: PacificSource, Providence, Moda and Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield.

St. Charles will no longer be an in-network provider for Medicare Advantage plans from Humana, HealthNet and WellCare starting in 2024. Individuals on these plans should receive a communication from their insurance provider about the changes to their health plan offerings and in-network provider availability.

Visit St. Charles’ Medicare Advantage FAQ page for more information.

Our trained Medicare counselors offer free and unbiased help for new Medicare enrollees at age 65 and current Medicare enrollees looking to change their benefits. These volunteers are part of Oregon’s Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA) program, which is dedicated to educating and advocating for Medicare enrollees.

One-on-one phone sessions with a SHIBA counselor can help you understand your Medicare benefits. They can help you compare health insurance options and protect you from overpaying for medical care and prescription drugs.

Our Medicare counselors can answer questions about:

  • Medicare Part A and Part B
  • Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage (Medicare Part D)
  • Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)
  • Medicare Advantage Plans (HMOs and PPOs)
  • Long-term care insurance
  • Medicare Savings Programs (QMB, SLMB and QI)
  • Prescription drug assistance programs or drug discount cards offered by your state and pharmaceutical companies
  • Medicaid and other insurance programs (including free or reduced-fee health care programs)

Read SHIBA’s frequently asked questions about options if your providers, or hospital, no longer contract with your Medicare Advantage plan.
