Meals on Wheels home-deliveries have continued uninterrupted since the pandemic began. Volunteers are able to enter client homes (if the client wishes), to drop off the meal and have a more extended chat. All our volunteers are fully vaccinated, wear a mask and keep a six-foot distance while in the home. If a client prefers to have their meal dropped on the front porch, that is ok too! Our volunteers will call to let the clients know the meal has arrived, and can have a conversation from a save distance outdoors.
Generally, the home-delivered meals are delivered by volunteers between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Clients are provided with a recommendation on how many meals a week are to be delivered, based on their needs.
Meals on Wheels Eligibility
To be eligible, older adults need to be aged 60 or over and either be home-bound or have difficulty shopping or cooking for themselves. Our case managers do a home visit to assess eligibility for the Meals on Wheels program as well as many other programs we have.
