Meals on Wheels – The Council on Aging of Central Oregon provides nutritious meals to older adults who are homebound due to illness, disability, or lack of support. In addition to cooking, packaging, and transporting meals in Bend, Sisters, and La Pine, we also partner with the Redmond Senior Center, Prineville Senior Center Charitable Trust, and Jefferson County Senior Center to ensure that this program is available throughout the region.

Senior Community Dining Programs – Community Dining offers adults 60 and older a hot, nutritious meal in a welcoming setting at no cost. With six dining sites across the tri-county area (Madras, Prineville, Bend, La Pine, Sisters, and Redmond), guests can enjoy good food and great company. Many locations also feature programs, activities, and valuable information on health, local resources, and nutrition.

Thrive Central Oregon – Thrive Central Oregon connects individuals and families with food resources across the region, including food boxes and free hot meals. The organization publishes comprehensive food resource guides. They also assist with housing, employment, healthcare, basic needs, and benefits navigation through in-person and phone appointments tailored to each person’s goals.

NeighborImpact – NeighborImpact operates Central Oregon’s regional food bank, distributing millions of pounds of food through pantries, mobile units, and partner agencies. Their programs ensure access to nutritious food for individuals and families across Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties and Warm Springs.

VeggieRX – VeggieRx is a free fresh produce prescription program that helps improve healthy eating habits for individuals experiencing food insecurity and diagnosed with diet-modifiable disease(s). Participants receive fifteen weeks of fresh locally grown vegetables/fruits and nutrition education.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – SNAP provides monthly food benefits to help you buy healthy food. This program helps people pay for groceries, learn about nutrition, and get job training and support. To apply for SNAP benefits in Central Oregon, submit an application online or contact your local Aging and People with Disabilties (APD) office to apply by phone or in person.

Senior Farm Direct Nutrition Program – This program provides income-eligible seniors with vouchers to purchase fresh, locally grown fruit, vegetables and cut, edible herbs directly from participating farmers at farmers markets and farm stands from June through November.

Food Hero – Food Hero is a nutrition education program by Oregon State University Extension Service that helps low-income Oregonians improve their health by promoting fruit and vegetable consumption with free resources like recipes and gardening tips.
